Christopher Hitchens

Christopher Hitchens is primarily involved in the firm's community association practice. He also handles zoning, permitting, licensing, and other administrative law matters before state and local government agencies and courts.

Mr. Hitchens was an Assistant County Attorney for Montgomery County, Maryland from 1990 to 1999. He advised County agencies regulating housing, land use, environmental protection, historic preservation, public works, and transportation. He also represented Montgomery County agencies in regulatory and code enforcement proceedings before the Montgomery County  Board of Appeals, and before Maryland trial and appellate courts.

Additionally, as Assistant County Attorney, Mr. Hitchens was counsel to the Montgomery County Commission on Common Ownership Communities and its dispute resolution hearing panels.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Hitchens maintained his own law practice in Gaithersburg, Maryland involving a variety of zoning, business, and litigation matters. He is a member of the Maryland Legislative Committee of the Community Associations Institute's Washington Metropolitan Chapter and serves as a Hearing Panel Chair for the Montgomery County Commission on Common Ownership Communities.

Mr. Hitchens is a 1976 graduate of American University and a 1987 graduate of the University of Maryland School of Law. He is admitted to practice in Maryland and the District of Columbia.
