

Thomas C. Schild focuses his practice in the representation of
community associations. He also handles land use, zoning, corporate, and regulatory
matters.
Thomas C. Schild has been in private practice since 1980. In the early
1980's, he was associated with a Washington DC law firm where he
represented businesses before federal agencies and courts.
Since 1985, he has represented condominiums, homeowners associations, and
housing cooperatives throughout Maryland and Washington D.C.
Mr. Schild has written numerous articles and presented seminars concerning various aspects of
condominium and homeowners associations operations. He has recently
presented programs regarding community associations insurance, contracts,
leasing restrictions, antenna regulation, and community governance.
Mr. Schild currently serves as Chair of the Maryland Legislative Action Committee
of the Community Associations Institute (CAI), which represents community
association interests before the Maryland General Assembly. Mr. Schild is
also a member of CAI's National Faculty and
teaches courses on Community Governance and The Manager and The Law. He previously served on the Board of Directors
of CAI's Washington Metropolitan Chapter.
He has served on the editorial advisory board for the
Community Association Management Insider, a monthly newsletter on community
association management. He is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association and Bar Association of Montgomery County.
Mr. Schild is a 1976 graduate of Northwestern University and a 1980
graduate of the George Washington University Law School. He is admitted to practice before
the state and federal courts in Maryland and the District of Columbia.
